Marc Wildi studied mathematics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH in Zurich. At the University of St. Gallen he earned his doctorate in business economics specialised in Non Liner Forecasting. Further study earned him his habilitation in Real-Time Signal Extraction. He worked at a number of institutes (IFU,FEW) at the University of St. Gallen in the fields of Empirical Economic Research and Econometrics. In 2002 he was appointed associate professor for econometrics at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences.
His research activities at the Institute of Data Analysis and Process Design addressed the modelling of economic interrelations specialising on time based dynamism.

He promoted a methodological paradigm shift in the field of Signal Extraction, which led to a reviewing of the problem-specific mapping of essential economic questions in the areas of technology, healthcare, economic activity and finance.
His forecasting methods are currently used by governmental institutions (for example: santesuisse, the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health), economic and forecasting institutions (for example OECD, KOF) and private firms (various Hedge-funds; ENISO Partners). A forecasting model based on his thesis recently won renowned International Forecasting Competitions.
